Monroe County Court Records Index (1850s-1980s)
This database is an index of the oldest surviving Monroe County court records. Dates range from the 1850s – 1980s. It includes Civil and County Court cases, along with a handful of Criminal cases. Always check spelling variations of the surname.
Court Record Copy Service:
The Monroe County Local History Room will provide copies of those court cases in its possession (the actual records listed on this index are housed in two locations: the Monroe County Local History Room and the Wisconsin Historical Society Area Research Center in La Crosse, WI.). To request copies of court records held by LHR, simply click on "Request Copy Quote" and that particular court record index entry will be added to the "shopping cart." Then either checkout your order online or print the "shopping cart" and mail it to us. Once we receive your request form, we will inform you what the copying fee will be. The copying fee is dependent on the size of the court record file.
